A Better Way to Get Your Textbooks Is Coming

Beginning with the Fall 2025 term, the University of Idaho is launching a new textbook platform designed to make getting your course materials easier, faster and more affordable. It’s called VandalStore Textbooks, powered by Akademos, which is part of VitalSource.

This new online experience is built to work the way you do. When you log in with your Vandal ID, you’ll see a personalized page with only the courses you’re registered for and the required or recommended materials your instructors have selected. That means no more searching for ISBNs or guessing what edition you need.

Whether you prefer new, used, rentals or ebooks, you’ll find a wide range of textbook formats, competitive pricing and marketplace deals from sellers across the country. You can even compare prices and take advantage of a price match guarantee on new books. Orders over $79 ship free, and you can have them delivered to your home, your campus address or to the VandalStore for convenient pickup.

Why the Change?

This update reflects the university’s commitment to making course materials more affordable and accessible. Students have more choices than ever when it comes to buying textbooks, and our previous system didn’t make it easy to compare formats or pricing. VandalStore Textbooks provides a modern, mobile-friendly website that integrates with your class schedule and gives you a clearer picture of your total course material costs.

You’ll also be able to:

  • Log in with your Vandal ID using Single Sign-On
  • Review textbook details for all your registered courses in one place
  • Purchase items right from your personalized dashboard
  • Receive digital access instructions via email
  • Sell textbooks back using the built-in Valore Marketplace tool
