VandalStore Textbooks is a fully online service powered by VitalSource, the third-party partner selected by the University of Idaho and the VandalStore to manage all course materials. This page offers helpful guidance for students using the system, including how to find your required materials, where to get help and how to troubleshoot common issues. Whether you’re accessing digital content, tracking an order or experiencing a technical problem, the support options below can connect you with the right resources.

2. Canvas Textbook Support For help and questions about textbooks accessed through Canvas, please visit the Student Canvas Help pages or contact [email protected]. Please note: The issue may involve both the Canvas and VitalSource teams.

Vandal Day One Access (Inclusive Access): How to Opt Out

Important: Please do not use a phone to complete the following steps. You will need to use a web browser on a computer for the best experience.

Opt Out Deadline(s):

  • Fall 2025: Monday, Sept. 8 (no late requests accepted)
  • Fall 2025 late 8-week courses: Thursday, Oct. 31 at midnight (no late requests accepted)
  • Spring 2026: Wednesday, Jan. 28 at midnight (no late requests accepted)
  • Spring 2026 late 8-week courses: Thursday, April 2 at midnight (no late requests accepted)

 


Participation in Vandal Day One Access is optional. If you prefer not to use the provided digital materials, you can opt out by following the steps below. Just be aware that you will need to find, purchase and access the materials on your own if you opt out.



There are two ways to opt out of Vandal Day One Access: through the VandalStore Textbook Portal or directly within your Canvas myTextbooks.

Option 1: Opt Out via the VandalStore’s Textbook Portal

  1. Go to https://uidaho.vitalsource.com/
  2. Click Sign in to View Courses to see your enrolled courses
  3. Scroll down to see which of your courses use Vandal Day One Access (Inclusive Access)

  4. Click Opt Out next to the applicable course
  5. A confirmation window will appear – select Confirm to complete the opt-out process

Note: You may opt in or out anytime during the first 10 days of the semester. After the deadline, charges cannot be reversed. Refunds will be issued to your student account 5 to 7 days after the opt-out period ends.


Option 2: Opt Out via Canvas

  1. Visit canvas.uidaho.edu
  2. Log in using your U of I credentials
  3. Click the “hamburger menu” (three lines) in the top-left corner of the screen

  5. Scroll down to see courses with Vandal Day One Access (Inclusive Access) materials

  6. Click Opt Out next to the applicable course

  7. Confirm your choice when prompted

Just like the portal option, the opt-in/opt-out window remains open for the first 10 days of the semester. After that, no changes can be made, and any applicable refunds will post to your student account 5 to 7 days after the deadline has passed.
