Faculty Textbooks HUB

Resources for Every Step of the Textbook and Course Materials Process
This page offers support and guidance for faculty navigating textbooks and course materials at the University of Idaho. Whether you are selecting required texts, managing digital access or open educational resources (OER), or working within the VitalSource Course Materials system powered by Verba Collect and Akademos, you’ll find useful tools and direct support links on these pages.

Adoption Dates and Deadlines
Visit the Adoptions Tab above, for more details.

  • Winter 2025 – October 17, 2025
  • Spring 2026 – October 17, 2025
  • Summer 2026 – TBD
  • Fall 2026 – TBD
Meeting the submission deadline ensures timely delivery of materials and allows students to view and order their required course materials in advance. Adoption information submitted after the deadline is still gladly accepted; however, it may impact delivery timelines, as well as the visibility of materials and charging accuracy on student accounts.

For late adoptions, selecting digital (e-book) options is recommended to help ensure students receive timely access to materials.

In fall 2025, the University of Idaho and the VandalStore launched Verba Collect, the university’s new online course materials system. This web-based platform makes it easier for instructors to review, select and submit course materials, or indicate that none are required. It helps ensure students have timely and affordable access. Log in with your U of I credentials to begin managing materials for your assigned courses.

This shift is based on your feedback and reflects our commitment to making the adoption process easier and more reliable for faculty, while also reducing the financial burden on students. With full Banner and Canvas integration, the new system helps ensure students are ready on day one.

How to Get Started
  • Step 1: Log In – Go to Verba Collect and sign in using your U of I credentials.
  • Step 2: Review Your Courses – Your dashboard shows only the courses you’re assigned to teach or oversee.
Note 1: If you don’t see a course you are assigned to teach, please contact your department to have your teaching assignment information updated.
Note 2: If you are a department administrator and want access to an entire department's adoptions, please email [email protected].
  • Step 3: Submit or Confirm – You may select required course materials, indicate that no materials are needed, or upload and link to alternative resources such as open educational resources (OER) or custom coursepacks.
  • Step 4: Need Help? – Use the help link in the Verba Collect portal or email [email protected]. A great place to begin is the How to Adopt VitalSource Course Materials PDF guide, which walks you through each step with clear visual instructions.
Bulk Ordering

If your department or program needs to purchase course materials in bulk, such as for the Common Read, student orientation or other group distribution, we can help you coordinate that process. Bulk orders are ideal when you need multiple physical copies delivered to your department, classroom or event. Please use the quick form below to begin your request.

Please note: Delivery timelines will depend on publisher inventory and availability. An ISBN and departmental index number will be required, so please have both items ready when submitting your request.

Ordering Desk Copies

Faculty who need a desk copy for review or teaching purposes should request one directly from the publisher. For courses using Inclusive Access, instructors have access to their adopted materials through the Canvas myTextbooks link from the course menu.

If a physical desk copy is still preferred, VitalSource offers a Faculty Sampling Portal that may be used to request physical or digital examination copies, depending on publisher participation.
